Update #60

(*`▽´)_旦 Red-Oni™ energy drink! Use your power wisely!

  • Hello heroes! And welcome one more week to the update of Yokai Quest! 〈( ^.^)ノ

As you know we are waiting for the factory finish reviewing all the material and send us the production plan to be approved by us and start making Yokai Quest.

Today we have been talking to them and closing most of the points. Only the revision of the models of the expansions remains to close numbers and distribution of the molds. So it is very likely that throughout the next week everything is ready and we have the production plan in our hands.

We keep you informed punctually of each step of this stage (。・з・)ゞ

On the other hand, it seems that following the previous update, it has created some confusion with the language used for the cards of the game. So let's shed some light on this point.

    • All characters, abilities, enemies and objects of the game have Japanese names: Ryo, Midori, yokai, oni, kamaitachi, onigiri, katana, etc.
    • Names will always be written with the characters of the latin script (which in Japanese is known as romaji) never with ideograms (kanji or kana). So, for example, in the consumable of the "rice ball" you will see written Onigiri and not お握り.
    • As commented in the previous update, the rulebook will include for each hero a table that will explain in more detail the use of each skill, as well as a translation of the meaning of its name.

And to conclude the update this week, we continue to show elements of the game with the final adjustments. Today we review the final design of the cards of the energy deck.

The three basic cards and reverse of the energy deck

The mechanics and design of the energy deck has not undergone major changes since its initial version; and we have only made some minor adjustments to the special cards as well as adding some additional uses for the heroes' energy points

  • At the beginning of each turn, each hero draws a card from the energy deck and adds the number of energy tokens indicated on the card to its reserve.
  • The energy deck is composed by basic cards, which add 1 to 3 tokens of energy, and special cards, which in addition to energy, provide a small buff to the hero or group.
  • Heroes can not have more than 7 tokens of energy in their reserves.
  • Heroes can spend their energy to use their skills and to activate certain magical objects.
  • In addition the energy is present in other mechanics of the adventures. For example: enemies that will attack the hero with more energy, or maps of adventures where the heroes receive damage if they have less of a certain number of counters on their energy reserve. Another example would be a stage where the victory goal is to recharge some magical pillars by spending energy on them, so it would be important to choose between using skills to defeat enemies or recharge pillars to avoid more enemies coming in.
