Pond Wars

Amphibious Armageddon! Fresh from making a big splash at Historicon comes our new range of 28mm Warrior Frogs. Fed up with lurking in the lily pond, these armed amphibians are on the march, and French chefs everywhere are running for the hills in fear. They are designed and sculpted by Kosta Heristanidis, who was inspired by the work of a Japanese artist.

The range includes eight different hopping mad Warrior Frogs armed with spears and muskets; and three command frogs (an officer, standard bearer, and musician). There’s also a one legged veteran of the "First French Chef Wars" with pistol cocked and out for revenge.

Our sculptor Kosta Heristanidis was much taken by the imagination of Kawanabe Kyosai, a prolific 19th Century Japanese artist. Kyosai’s subjects embraced traditional scenes from Japanese life, landscape, and mythology, as well as many dramatic representations of samurai warfare. He was also prone to flights of fantasy born of his own mind, and sometimes painted anthropomorphic creatures in samurai style battle scenes – including – Samurai Frogs! Kosta was inspired by Kyosai’s feisty frogs and designed this range as a tribute to the ancient amphibian martial tradition!
