and just a nice person

Sculptor of 54 miniatures

Edgar Skomorowski resides in Paris, France and works as a freelance physical and digital model designer. He studied Conservation of Art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria, working on conservations ranging from european old master easel paintings and modern art to 12th Century mural paintings in Nako, Himachal Pradesh, India. As a long time fan of toy soldiers, he started as a self-thaught artist to sculpt miniatures out of epoxy and pvc putties alongside his studies. Soon after graduating in 2010 as a Conservator of Art, he did a farewell exhibition of freelance works in Vienna and moved to Nottingham, UK. There he joined the team of miniature designers at Games Workshop PLC. He started off as a physical model designer and later on as a digital model designer for the Forge World Design Studio, working on various ranges and high-end collectible miniatures for the Warhammer and Warhammer 40 000 IP.

Besides his work as a model designer, Edgar has a passion to continously improve his skills as an artist. He has been trained in Anatomy, Portraiture and Facial Anatomy by Scott Eaton and inspired by his comprehensive course initiated an anatomy training with Scott Eaton for designers and illustrators at Games Workshop. As a follow up, Edgar run a weekly gettogether on écorché studies with designers and illustrators at Games Workshop.

In 2013 he moved to the digital world of model making. Inspired by the thousands of amazing works by digital artists, he took on a course by Paul Gaboury from Pixologic to get a solid foundation in Zbrush. Soon after the course he took a sabbatical month from work at Games Workshop to return to Vienna for personal development in digital model making. It was also the excuse to make one of his childhood dreams come true, to develop a entirely new range for one of Games Workshops IPs. This should later become the Solar Auxilia, where he was responsible for the design, 3D modelling and rapid prototype engineering of the entire range. After finishing his last projects at the Forge World Design Studio, he gave classes on using Zbrush for miniature design at Games Workshop and relocated in June 2015 to Paris, France, where part of his family lives.
