Update #39

Shipping is starting in North America

Hello all,

We hope this message finds many of you knee deep in zombie guts! For those of you still sharpening your machetes and adding nails to your Louisville Sluggers, we have good news:

Shipping is underway in North America. Our fulfillment team has received all of the inventory (we basically had to pry it out of US custom’s hands with a crowbar) and they are currently packing up product to be shipped out. We have been told that all orders will have left the warehouse by next Wednesday. We can’t thank you guys enough for your extended patience and support throughout this shipping ordeal.

In addition, we wanted to address a few concerns posted recently, primarily revolving around the amount of content in the Wasteland expansion. We’ve heard a few people complain that the Wasteland box is big and shiny, but the actual physical components inside are on the light side. To begin, the size of the box was set by the punch boards for tiles and tokens, and intended to hold additional content down the road. It is true that when you open up the Wasteland expansion, at first glance there are only a few components. There is, however, quite a bit of content inside.

Let’s look at what was promised in the Kickstarter campaign, versus how the Wasteland box evolved based on game design changes:

Armory cards - The KS promised 6 new weapons, the box contains 9.

Survivor cards - The KS promised 3 new survivors, the box contains 14.

Tiles - The KS promised eight new doubled-sided map tiles. We delivered four double sided tiles, and one double sided base tile (which is the size of four smaller tiles).

Something’s Happening Cards - This component was removed from the design in the new systems of Zpocalypse 2: Defend the Burbs. Their function was roped into the Story Booklet. The Story Booklet in the Wasteland expansion contains a new campaign with four chapters, each of which take a more narrative and scenario based feel than the Zpoc2 core game. It also includes Road Events (a new mechanic), Special Events, truck-based combat/exploration, and 24 new scavenging locations.

Skill cards - The KS promised that you would get 7 new skill cards. These are unfortunately not in the Wasteland box. The KS campaign stated that the expansion would come with mutations, a new type of powerful skill cards which would require a negative in-game trade off. During design, we loved the mutations cards so much that we wanted them to become a major part of the Zpoc2 experience, so we moved them into the core game.

Yay Beans - The KS promised that everyone’s favorite promo card, Yay Beans, would be in the expansion. With all the work being done to overhaul the art and design, it ended up not making it in. We apologize to anyone disappointed by the lack of beans, and will do our best to make it up to you by including Yay Beans as a part of the first batch of downloadable content.

I want to end by directing your attention to a running Q & A we’ve put together for rules clarifications:

We really appreciate all the excellent feedback we’ve received thus far on the rule book, and will be putting out a v1.1 revision with (or before) the aforementioned first DLC pdf.

Thank you all for being part of this community with us. We look forward to continuing to work with you to make Defend the Burbs the best it can be.

Best wishes,
