Su-85 Soviet Tank Destroyer - 1/72 Scale

Model Description:
This download contains a highly detailed model of a Soviet SU-85 tank destroyer. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness).

Historical Description:
The SU-85 was a Soviet tank destroyer based on the T-34 chassis used during World War 2. The vehicle possessed a powerful 85mm D-5T cannon on a quick and low-profile platform. The cannon was able to knock out the German Tiger I tank at ranges up to 1 km. The vehicle entered service in 1943 with 2,650 being produced by 1944. The SU-85 would remain in service until 1950. In the later years of the war, production would be switched to the more powerful SU-100 tank destroyer, though existing SU-85s would still see action.

In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the SU-85M provides a cheaper alternative to the T-34-85 medium tank, with the added benefit of having the accurate keyword. The SU-85 being a casemate tank destroyer does limit its flexibility, however. The vehicle features moderate protection, able to stop less powerful cannons. The 85mm cannon is capable of dealing with moderately armored enemy vehicles and deals a decent amount of damage.
