Anointed in the fires of the Liturium War, Jeremus entered the conflict as but a disciple of the Divine of War and Peace, and emerged as a holy weapon. After crushing the skulls of the heretical High Elven worshippers of Brinilmin, the Church of the Tharameni sought him out. Seeing his fervent desire to quell heresy, they knew he would become an instrumental weapon.

Raised in Belfrie’s capital of Jochenia, Jeremus’ family had long been servants to Horauthin. His father was a captain during the Duskweave Campaign, while Jeremus still trained with timber swords in the emptied streets of Jochenia. Almost all the soldiers of the nation had left to fight on Duskweave, where half would perish, his father among them. The news devastated Jeremus’ family, his mother begging her son to refrain from his continued training to be in service of Horauthin, but he refused.

Five years later, the Liturium War began. The High Elves of Leacianus who Jeremus’ father fought and died alongside betrayed their former allies, breaking the Duskweave Treaty and instigating a war between Formen and Belfrie. Jeremus was all too eager to join, a fiery rage burning inside him as he now saw his father’s sacrifice in vain, should the Leacianans emerge victorious. The Church of the Tharameni sent many of its warriors from Belfrie and Formen into the war, declaring the Leacianans as Brinilmin-worshipping heretics who held no regard for the Tharameni or old faiths of Tharador.

Jeremus battled with absolute impunity: no mercy, no relenting against his foes. By the war’s end, his kill count was over a dozen, a number he proudly touted on return to Belfrie. The Church, seeing his fervor, anointed him a position in their ranks, the need for loyal and zealous warriors everlasting. For Jeremus, the war did not quell his grief, but rather temporarily doused it. Years later it would re-emerge, and the Church would ask his bidding in their latest expedition into Sudd Tohst, where rumours stirred of Myrothlir’s meddling in the ancient sands.
