The Celts were an ensemble of different Indo-European people that shared a similar culture and language and appeared during the Iron Age in central Europe. They spanned to most corners of continental Europe and the British Isles and their heritage is one of fine craftsmen and fierce warriors. They influenced all the other peoples that coexisted with them, including the Romans, which were destined to mark the decline and almost disappearance of their culture.
The last Celtic period also marked their height in Europe. It was the so called by archeologists La Tène culture, which appeared on the 5th Century B. C. The Celts of this period had an incredibly developed society with their own particular ways that were traditionally considered “barbaric”, mostly because of the legacy left by the Romans, which clearly tried to establish the superiority of their own Latin culture.
Our miniature represents one of those brave warriors in a clearly defiant pose, a romantic image from the dawn of this culture.
This classic from miniatures’ history was released in the late 90’s by Elite Miniaturas and the original boxart was painted by Raúl García Latorre himself.
