Extract from the diary of captain Thomas Cochrane, on an unnamed island off the coast of Portugal, 30. June 1803
"It has been the darkest day of the expedition yet. Mr. Lamb died in the early hours of the morning after his condition had worsened rapidly during the night. The doctor did all he could to ease his pain, but I'm not even sure he realised we were there. Then, an hour later, he, or rather his corpse, stood up, attacked Mr. Collins and slew him before any of us could react! It took a shot to his head to put him down for good. Mr. Slater grew very anxious and urged us to explore the cave as quickly as possible, for whatever was in there seemed to speed up the process of what he called zombification to a level unknown to him. I am writing these words in the final minutes before we enter the cave. May god be with us if he can find us in this place. Come what may, we will end this now."
