Shieldmaiden With Warhammer

When her brother fell in battle, the dwarf shieldmaiden took up his armour and axe, marched to his old unit and demanded his place in the line. By the weight of ancestral law they could not refuse her, and by the weight of her fury they soon learned they would not dare.

On her first great campaign she hunted down the elven lord who had slain her brother and split him from crown to breastbone before the eyes of both armies.

From that day, songs named her not as a substitute, but as a warrior in her own right, heavier in honour than many who had trained since childhood. Now she stands as an example to every dwarf woman who sharpens a blade in secret, proof that grief and duty can forge legends from those the halls once overlooked.
