On the agrarian world of Tartaro, every able-bodied citizen is expected to defend the homeland, preferably without disrupting the harvest schedule. Thus were born the Tartaro Conscripts, a militia force drafted directly from sprawling grain fields, livestock stations, and fertilizer plants.
The Tartaro High Guilds quickly discovered a brutal economic truth:
it is cheaper to equip a conscript with high-grade armor than to replace him as a farmhand.
Military training is therefore kept intentionally minimal. Every extra week a recruit spends learning to shoot is a week not spent planting, tending, or harvesting. As a result, Tartaro conscripts are issued rugged, expensive gear designed to keep them alive despite their lack of discipline, precision, or basic tactical understanding.
