I was looking through the latest Void Admiral release, Renegade Warfleets and this fleet jumped out at me as sounding random and fun. It also fit with a design I've been wanting to try for ages...
Asymmetric spaceships. This is HARD! I had to fight my natural tendencies towards symmetry the whole way, but also make it look purposeful and deliberate. Then of course, when I finished the four classes of ship, I went back in and created two variations for each size. I really didn't want to roll out a fleet of ships that are supposed to look like cobbled together junk, and have each size ship look exactly the same. So, I just changed a few bits on each one to make 3 total variants for each class, to give it enough variation to avoid that.
Now, these are a specific faction in Void Admiral in the Renegade Warfleets expansion both of which are very inexpensive. You could use these in OPR warfleets as is, since there are variations in class size, and fighter tokens of different styles but please let me know if you need more to be able to play another game.
