Imagine you're climbing over the rails of a ship and suddenly this guy is in front of you, multi-faceted eyes gleaming in the sunset, axes swinging like there's no tomorrow (for you). Well, that's exactly what happened to me one day as I was attempting to stow aboard a hammerhead class spelljammer. We're good friends now, but I'll never forget that first meeting.
I know that thri-kreen are supposed to be mantis-based humanoid insects. I get it. In that case, just think of this guy as wearing a sweet helmet, or as an aardling. There you go! With a little imagination, he fits right in with the RAW.
