Citizen Men-At-Arms

As one would expect from Merchant Republics, there are quite a few wealthy citizens who make the various their homes in the myriad of City-States that define the Fringe Realms. So when the citizenry musters their Militia, these wealthy land owners and merchants are expected to participate and do so most often as mounted heavy men-at-arms, often with several of their household guard to ensure that if someone has to die for the state it's just the hired help and not their "brilliant" selves.

Regardless of the callousness of such affairs, this ensures that each of the Republics has hundreds if not thousands of Heavy Horse to call upon in times of danger. They may not be knights but their charge can scatter any levy or horde of ratmen just as
