A class of massive duality, the nobles live in both the most lavish luxury and direst poverty, selling their vote for simple coin. This carries on into their psyche too. Traders and business owners by day, at night they done masks and lose their humanity as their debauched masqueratas head into the city to wreak bloody havoc on the city they hold so dear.
The Patricians are for the finer people. With elaborately detailed swords and armour, the Nobles have a whole city to play in, and their Household Staff must diligently follow or be fired (and for the Patricians, firing is a fairly permanent - and messy - career ender).
