The Jurchen were a semi-nomadic people living in northeastern china in tribal communities. in 1115, Wanyan Aguda unified the jurchen tribes, declared himself Emperor, and fought a war against the Liao Dynasty in china. Eventually he conquered most of Northern china and settled into a war against his Southern Song Dynasty neihbours, choosing the name "Jin" for his dynasty.
When the Mongols under Ghengis Khan invaded the Jin in 1189, they faced the might of the Jin's Iron Pagoda Cavalry. So named for their head to toe sets of lamellar armor. Despite this impressive host of armored cavalry, the Mongols overwhelmed the Jin and finally conquered them in 1234.
