A large sized flightless Bird with the body phenotype based on a gorilla and groundsloth. 2 piece print of the body mounted on a 2 inch diorama of vine wrapped tree stumps
Nestled between the wide expanse of the Greyfinn plains and the Stoanhall cliffs, a sanctuary of colossal trees form the Arborne woodlands. Under these immense canopies, deep sonorous bird song fills the air as a troop of aphistus birds rummage through the undergrowth, their long talons pulling aside heavy roots to expose the hard shelled nuts and terrestrial fruit that they crave. Their innate strength and ability to manipulate stubborn roots allows them to make durable nests of woven live roots just under the soil, packing them with leaf litter to incubate their eggs while they roam onwards in search of food, only returning to dig out their newly hatched chicks when they hear their cries. Though generally peaceful, lackadaisical creatures, a lifetime of pulling tough roots has bred them to be powerfully strong and when roused to defend their kin, their clawed strikes can tear through hide and chitin with ease.
