Historex

About company

Historex is a French company that manufactures plastic models, founded in Paris. The company's history dates back to the Parisian firm Atelier de Gravure, which has been developing and manufacturing molds for the famous Mokarex figurines since 1953. The first Historex kits appeared around 1963.

The key figures behind the creation and development of the Historex brand were Eugène Lelievre and René Gillette. The company became famous for its modular approach to creating sets. Instead of producing complete figures, Historex produced separate parts of uniforms, equipment, torsos, and elements for horses, cast from traditional white plastic. This allowed modelers to combine parts and create an almost infinite number of poses and figure variations. Although the original Parisian company has reportedly ceased to exist, products under the Historex brand continue to be manufactured. Currently, Historex Agents, based in Dover, is responsible for the worldwide distribution of the products.

The main and most popular historical period represented in the Historex lines is the era of the Napoleonic Wars (1804-1815). The range covers a wide spectrum of figures: from individual foot soldiers and officers to cavalrymen and large diorama sets, such as an artillery train with a team of four horses and drivers. In addition to the Napoleonic theme, the company also produced sets dedicated to other periods, such as the French colonial army during the American War of Independence (1775-1791), as well as figures on the theme of the Wild West.

All Historex miniatures are produced in a single scale of 54 mm, which is the standard size for collectible historical figures. This size allows for a high level of detail in uniforms and equipment. Historex sets are kits for assembly and painting, intended for collectors and experienced modelers.
