On the edge of the GCPS, DreadBall can be a little different than in the high-tech Core. The open-air arenas of Azure IX, situated amid the moon's massive rainforests, bring a whole host of new chal-lenges even to veteran players. They'll have to deal with changing weather, local lifeforms and some very excitable fans if they're go-ing to make it in the Azure Forest League!
Galactic Tour Series packs let you play DreadBall in different ways to represent how the sport varies across the galaxy. In this pack, there are rules for weather effects and new Cheerleader actions, as well as new event cards to alter your DreadBall deck and bring new elements into play.

Yes it's in our hands, the Mantic Games Dreadball Ultimate box set. Our local pathfinder Kyle was specially sent the unreleased set for our Games weekend with W5 ( whowhatwherewhenwhy the interactive learning and activity centre in Belfast's Odyssey Complex) Wee Ivor (he's not dead see) and Kyle couldn't wait to show it off to the public and you as they chat about the contents and let you get an eye full of what to expect when you can finally buy this exciting new expansion to the Dreadball franchise. The game expands and improves with Giants, expanded rules and a rubberised colour mat/pitch for up to six teams to take to the field.

So in this series I intend to go through the mechanics of how to play Dreadball Kick-Off.

Kick-Off is the newly released starter set that covers the basic rules of Dreadball. You can expand the game up to the full rules through the "extra time set" or just plunge straight in by buying the deluxe edition.

A quick unboxing video of Mantic's new DreadBall The Futuristic Sports Game!

New to this whole unboxing live thing, so I went over a few things quickly. Probably should have done a flip though of the rule book...but as you can see it "looks" thick, but don't be intimidated cause it's got large type and lots of images and space so it's not that "dense".

I'll try to do a follow up video when it's all built up and we've played it a couple times.

A little of the history of these sets.

Repeatedly fined for flying in the arena, Ludwig is seldom out of trouble with Digby. He is so obviously different physically that these days he is required to wear devices to restrict his flight, reducing its effectiveness to a fluttering jump. Though not quite the game-defining ability it was before, this is still very useful for Ludwig and the buzz of his wings is always answered by a similar sound from the crowd.

(BUZZCUT)
If eating your greens makes you grow up big and strong, then Buzzcut must have devoured forests as a child because he is huge. On the pitch he wears some armour, but generally plays almost stripped to the waist as if preparing for some manual labour which, in a way, he is. His usual excuse is that the uniforms come off when he gets into a fight anyway, and it is true that things seem to break when he is about. This doesn't stop him being fined in almost every game for being improperly attired. As if he cared.

(RICO VAN DIEN)
Rico is a natural showman. He is handsome, suave, well educated, hugely rich, and the object of more paternity suits than any other DreadBall player in its history. Envied by men, loved by women, Rico has it all and he knows it.

(DBR-7 FIREWALL)
DBR-7 "Firewall" is the product of advanced research by Mutsunembu LLC to muscle in on the lucrative Sports Robot market to fulfil a gap for a Keeper variant. By the time Firewall was ready however the gap had already closed and new technology made it possible for the latest batch of Sports Bots to transform into this fourth type. Despite this, DBR7 prototype was put through its paces on the DreadBall Pitch and was so successful that the DGB decided to purchase him for his PR value. Many years on, and it would be hard to imagine the MVP circuit without him.
