Praetor Corvinus, Astral Elf
“You are not the first to stand against me and you will not be the last. Your courage to face me foolish. Your time has come to an end.”

The leader of The Anteokheia or otherwise known as The Astral Elves. These elves once wandered the Astral Sea and beyond in search of their gods. Eventually they found what remained of their gods on The Moon of Antioch.

With their new home of Antioch, the Astral Elves lived for extraordinarily long periods of time due to the timeless nature of Astral realms of existence. Their exposure to the energies of the Astral realms has changed the elves since their time in the material plane. Now their kind have developed psionic powers. Their skin tones have now shifted to patterns of cold tones of white, black and grey.

Few denizens of the material plane know of the Anteokheia except for vague descriptions in ancient texts. Those that live or wander the vast expanses of the Astral Sea and Space know the Anteokheia as a superpower that should not be challenged.

Praetor Corvinus is one of the oldest that has been tasked with traditions and duties that few could bear. He is ultimately tasked with the survival of his race and the survival of the Material Planes. This duty was believed to be inherited from their dead gods and passed down through the few generations that have passed since the discovery of Antioch.

Facing the Praetor in combat is a losing battle, as he wields the power of Antioch itself while also being a powerful psionic warrior. With his psionic prowess he can tear Astral faring ships asunder. wield his legendary swordspear from afar or literally tear aether from his opponents. If he must quell the death throes of a dying era on the surface of the material plane, he can call down strikes from Antioch's Prometheus Cannon.

The true nature of magic has been revealed to the Anteokheia, it is all connected to a delicate balance of the positive and negative planes of existence - or the magical essence of ‘Aether’ and ‘Dark Aether’. When one form of aether is used for magic, there is a momentary void that is filled with the opposing force. When these forces become terribly out of balance, the excess aether leaks into the material planes causing many side effects. These effects can be the origin of various aberrations or regional effects that can drastically alter the atmosphere or wildlife in strange ways - it can even lead to calamitous events that leave the world scarred forever.

The survival of the material planes of existence hangs onto the balance of these forces of nature and magic. The Anteokheia - and ultimately Praetor Corvinus are wardens of the balance, but they most also play the role of watchful gods with little interference. Traditions set forth by those that came before them is that they could not directly intervene until the slate must be wiped clean again.

After numerous millenia,  the Anteokheia will return to bring about the end of an era and civilizations. In their wake the ruins of mortal kingdoms would lay and few people would remain to rebuild.

The Moon of Antioch would return to the skies of the material plane and unleash a calamity upon the world. An ancient weapon was found deep within the moon they now call home. An apparatus that could harness mass amounts of dark aether from the imbalance and focus it into a destructive force. The world would be left to heal and those that remain would be told the error of their ways, the overuse and abuse of magic. A warning to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past so they can break free of this cycle.

Praetor Corvinus has witnessed many cycles and has wiped out countless lives to save the mortal world. In his first few cycles he tried to give mortals a chance to change when they reached the precipice of destruction - ultimately they failed and he was required to carry out his duty.
