Creatures imported from Sudd Tohsti slavers, confined to the labyrinthine depths under Lion’s Den Citadel. Part of Project Glass Ceiling, these creatures were similarly hoped to be used as potential future warriors for the Baldurian government, potential enforcers for off-the-book operations or as a means to chemically enhance their own soldiers through the blood of the minotaurs.

In the labyrinth beneath Grimhelm’s citadel, lies experiments that have been locked away in its furthest depths, forgotten to time. There the Minotaurs that were once part of Project Glass Ceiling have made their home, in the wretched ruins that had been their crucible for decades, halls stained in their blood, screams of their fallen kin still echoing long past their deaths. Here they endured the worst that Baldur’s scientists could conjure against them, ripping at their flesh, siphoning their blood, tainting them with foul salves. It was the hope of Baldur’s scientists that these creatures might one day make a powerful task force for their military, or that perhaps their stalwart bodies might hold secrets to enhancing the bodies of their own soldiers.

Yet the minotaurs, brought as slaves from Sudd Tohst, never showed any kindling of loyalty, nor wavered in their hatred for their captors. On several occasions they would feign submission and suppleness, only to brutalize whatever scientist would unleash their bonds to test their loyalty. One of these occasions saw the jailbreak of many, whom fled into the labyrinth’s deepest depths, places where they could remain hidden and evade their pursuers. Those unfortunate enough to be left behind were terminated, and after weeks of searching for the escapees, the workers of Glass Ceiling eventually forfeited any hope of finding the subjects, believing them to have starved to death. The sector of the labyrinth they escape to was sealed with brick and mortar, in the event that somehow they did survive, they would not be able to emerge in the rest of the facility.

Despite the odds, they did hold on. Subsisting on lichens, moss and rodents that had found their own place in the depths of the labyrinth. When Project Glass Ceiling was put on hiatus owing to the civil unrest in Grimhelm, the minotaurs became wise to the face. They had found the sealed wall, and chiseled a small hole in which they could observe their captors. When all the posts were abandoned, they tore the wall down, and the labyrinth became their domain. Whilst many prior experiments remain in cages, the Minotaurs prowl the halls, having erected a number of traps and ambush pits for when the scientists eventually return, hoping to bring about a swift end to them, even if it comes at the cost of their own lives. Anything that steps inside the labyrinth as far as they are concerned, is their enemy.
