This is the first part of my second army project: The Ayyubid Sultanate. Inspired by document and designs from the XII century, this army is a complete display of the forces commanded by the famous leader Salah Ad-Din (Also known as Saladin) during his rise to power and victories against the Christian kingdoms.
This small scale army include the following:
- Askari Footmen (8 poses)
- Askari Riders (8 poses)
- Mamluks Footmen (8 poses)
- Mamluks Riders (8 poses)
- Bedouin infantry (8 poses)
- Tawashiyya Cavalry (8 poses)
- Nubian Pikemen (8 poses)
- Sudanese Archers (8 poses)
- Leaders and banners (14 poses, footmen and mounted)
Some historical notes: I've taken some poetic licence with the naming of the troops, mainly because medieval armies were often trained and mantained by lord and kings, and sistematic unit naming was not a thing.
Askari : Askari in arabic language means "soldier" so my Askari troops are simply professional soldiers, instead of conscripts or tribesmen summoned by the ruler.
Tawashiyya : A muslim scholar of the XV century defined "Tawashiyya" as an holder of high income. This rank of nobles were usually officers, very well equipped and trained with bows, spear and sword.
Models presupported for 10mm and 15mm prints.
