Description
Muttaburrasaurus langdoni was a herbivorous dinosaur that roamed Australia during the early Cretaceous period, around 112 to 98 million years ago.
This large, bipedal ornithopod measured up to 8 meters long and is distinguished by its unique, bulbous nasal crest, which may have been used for vocalization or display.
Named after Muttaburra in Queensland where its fossils were first discovered in 1963 by grazier Doug Langdon, Muttaburrasaurus had robust limbs, a beak-like mouth for cropping vegetation, and teeth adapted for chewing tough plants.
