Description
Genyornis newtoni was a large, flightless bird native to Australia during the Pleistocene epoch, approximately 2.5 million to 30,000 years ago.
Standing up to 2 meters tall and weighing around 230 kg, it was a formidable presence in the prehistoric Australian landscape.
Its powerful legs and large, clawed feet suggest it was a strong runner, likely feeding on a varied diet of plants and small animals.
Fossil evidence indicates that Genyornis newtoni may have coexisted with early human inhabitants, and its extinction might be linked to human activities and climatic changes during that period.
