Description
Kosmoceratops richardsoni was a ceratopsid dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous period, about 76 million years ago.
Discovered in the Kaiparowits Formation in Utah, it is renowned for its ornate skull, which featured 15 distinct horns—more than any other known dinosaur.
The frill of Kosmoceratops was uniquely broad and curved, with hooked horns above the eyes and a series of small, forward-curving horns around the edge of the frill.
This herbivorous dinosaur measured around 15 feet in length and likely used its elaborate horns and frill for display and possibly in intraspecies combat or defense.
