Description
Moschops capensis was a large, herbivorous therapsid that lived during the Permian period, around 260 million years ago.
Measuring about 2.7 meters (9 feet) in length, it had a stocky, barrel-shaped body and a thick, robust skull.
Its legs were positioned beneath its body, giving it a more advanced gait than earlier reptiles.
The thickened skull may have been used in head-butting behavior, possibly for dominance or mating displays.
