The Teutonic Order did during their crusade to the Northern/Eastern parts of Europe employ a lot of local infantrymen. These where known as "Auxiliaries" from the old Roman Empire and where used as light infantry to shower the enemy with arrows and javelins. The shield and flying Javelin are separate parts.
