When connecting models connect it by sliding in at angle it makes it easier to connect and disconnect. Check out the video posted on the reddit link to see what I mean.

PS: Due to the size of the board printing the floors may not be the most efficient way. Usually into dark boards are around 20$ at ebay. Please do the material cost calculation beforehand. Looking after your bucks my dudes!
PS2 : Dovetails are intended to be used to make gluing tiles together easier. I am unsure if it would be a great way to use it to assemble for each game.
