Just so you know, Pain Sec is a French expression that means dry bread (more precisely, it means leftover dry hardened bread that's that's hardly edible). When someone is said to be "A l'eau et au pain sec" (fed with water and hard dry bread), it's because they are punished or in jail. So we felt that Pain-Sec was a fitting surname for the intimidating and ruthless Freya. It's also a wink at a French comics heroine called Adèle Blanc-Sec (where Blanc-Sec means dry white wine), a bad-tempered investigator.
