HMS Lively was the prototype frigate of the class that would bear the same name, Lively class. It is a 38-gun frigate classified as a fifth-rate ship. Designed by Sir William Rule, the Lively class was a success, with 16 ships built. For many, it is the most successful frigate design made during the Napoleonic Wars.
Present in the Master and Commander collection. Jack is commanding the HMS Lively in the book "Post Captain".
