History
In the 1920's and 30's, many countries experimented with the concept of a multiturret tank. The soviet T-35 was the only 5-turret tank to reach serial, if limited, production. With turrets copied off of other soviet tanks (the T-28 and BT-5), the T-35 came equipped with a veritable arsenal: A 76mm main gun on the main turret, as well as a DP-27 machine gun. An additional two 37mm guns on the two secondary turrets, and finally two machineguns in two separate machine gun turrets. Nevertheless, poor design and mechanical defects made the T-35 a limited capacity tank. Due to its massive presence it was commonly used for progaganda purposes, but it fared poorly when put to the test at the outset of operation Barbarossa during World War 2. Of the 48 T-35s in combat ready condition, the majority was lost due to mechanical failure rather than enemy fire.
This model kit is part of an ongoing series, tentatively called Tank Turrets Through The Ages. The idea is to design era-defining tank turrets from their first inception up to modern day. The turrets will eventually be compiled into a megapack that provides a comprehensive and historically accurate set of turrets, for you to use in your tabletop miniature wargames. This product description will be updated with links to other turrets in the series as I design and publish them.
