The architect of a number of daring German special operations, Otto Skorzeny is best known for his mission to rescue Italian dictator Benito Mussolini from captivity in a mountaintop resort, and for his work behind US lines using captured uniforms and equipment to sow chaos and mistrust during the Battle of the Bulge. A daring, capable leader, he was often personally selected by Hitler to lead operations of significance.
