Glass Cannon Unplugged
Glass Cannon Unplugged was founded in 2020 by a group of board game industry veterans in Ilawa, Poland. One of the founders and CEO is Jakub Wiśniewski, who previously created This War of Mine.: The Board Game, and Michal Ozon, former COO of Phalanx Publishing house. The studio's appearance was due to the desire to create high-quality adaptations of popular video games in a desktop format.
The first major project was Frostpunk: The Board Game, launched on Kickstarter in October 2020. The campaign raised almost $2.5 million with a stated goal of $235,539, exceeding it tenfold in less than an hour. The game was developed with the participation of designer Adam Kwapiński and has been recognized for its deep strategic gameplay and fidelity to the original video game.
In the following years, the company successfully conducted several more crowdfunding campaigns. In 2024, Dying Light: The Board Game raised about 1.19 million euros on Kickstarter with more than 7,000 sponsors, offering cooperative gameplay with elements of parkour and a three-dimensional layout of the city. The Don't Starve: The Board Game campaign was launched in 2025, and a Kickstarter for Diablo: The Roleplaying Game, a role-playing game based on the legendary video series, is expected to be launched at the end of 2025.
Thus, since its foundation, Glass Cannon Unplugged has become a prominent publisher and developer of board games based on popular games, using crowdfunding as the main method of financing and annually expanding its portfolio of projects.
