Description
Lady Arastacia
Born into poverty, Arastacia always craved more.
Arastacia learned from a young age, to manipulate and steal in order to get the things she wanted. Even though she was poor, Arastacia always had good looks and she knew how to use it.
When Arastacia reached her adulthood, she dreamed of castles and gallas. One day she decided to sneak into one such party at the count's castle, she stole a dress from the countess and went to the party.
Her beauty quickly demanded the attention at the party, and even though the dress was recognized by the countess, the count did not punish her.
Instead, the count took her as his lover.
This made the countess furious at Arastacia and the countess had a bitter rivalry from that very moment.
A couple of years went by, where Arastacia lived in the guest quarters of the castle, but she still wanted more. One day, she convinced the count, that the countess had tried to kill her, and that she should be punished. The countess was thrown in the cellar and was never heard of again, her children exiled and Arastacia wedded the count.
Only 2 years after the wedding, the count died in a “hunting accident” planned by Arastacia who now held all the power in the nearby area.
Soon Arastacia found the power to be boring, and she sought new excitement.
At first, she tried seducing younger, unmarried men, but this proved to be quite boring, as there was no challenge for a beauty such as Arastacia. But one day, a Lord from a neighboring country was visiting for diplomatic reasons, immediately as Arastacia laid eyes upon him she set a plan in motion. She seduced the Lord in the blink of an eye and history seemed to repeat itself. She repeated this process over and over until she almost owned a whole country, but alas, no one rules forever, a lesson Lady Arastacia learned the hard way. She was betrayed herself, by a young man that seemed to have the same ambitions as her when she was young. Maybe it was the old age or the endless boredom that let her guard down. But one simple sip of fine wine was all it took, and Arastacia took her last breath on the cold stone floor where she herself had ended the life of so many counts and lords before.
When she opened her eyes once more, confused and dizzy, she found herself in an empty castle, covered by a mist. She walked the endless halls for a time that seemed endless, and the only company she had was the spiders that skittered along the walls with her. Her anger and sorrow were like a boulder on her shoulder, and although she seemed to float, she couldn’t feel the floor. She went to the cellar to look for sustenance in the form of a bottle, the very thing that ended her life. She managed to find a whole room full of the finest wines, she took the first bottle she saw and gulped like a swine that hadn't drunk in days. But, she couldn't feel the liquid, she couldn’t taste the grapes and bitterness. In a rage, she smashed the whole cellar, broke the windows in the halls, tore the fine silky curtains until there was no more stuff to break. A long scream was heard through the halls, although no one seemed to answer.
As she was laying on the balcony steps, sobbing into her fine dress, when all hope seemed lost. A little knock was heard, not any knock. But 3 knocks on the door. Desperate, Arastacia rushed to the main entrance and opened it. A man, seemingly confused and lost, stood before her. As Arastacia stood there, looking at this poor man, she for some reason knew what to do, to welcome this lost man into her home, to fill her halls with joy. Just as she remembered her little tantrum, she turned around ready to apologize for the mess, however, there was no broken glass, torn curtains, or smashed ornaments. Everything was lit, fine, and dandy. A smirk appeared on her cheek, as she turned to the lost man, and welcomed him inside, never to be seen again.
Daughters of Arastacia
As time went on, Arastacia got so immensely bored of her once in a while lost man visiting her humble home, she felt so alone in that castle covered by mist. But one day it knocked on her door once again, which had been an unusually long time since the last compared to the other times she heard a knock. This time it was special because it was not a lost man that knocked on her door, but a little girl. Arastacia was surprised by this visit, she looked at the little girl, drenched in rain and mud. She quickly took the girl inside and tidied her up. While washing the poor girl, she saw many marks and scars on the girl's body, marks she was already acquainted with. This little girl has been used in so many god-awful ways by the pigs she once stabbed in the back herself, stupid pigs, poor girl. Arastacia embraced the little girl, grabbed her chin, and made their eyes meet. No more, this place should be a haven for lost girls, a safe space.
It didn't take long for Arastacia to teach her ways to the girl, and with these newfound powers of her, she would drain every last bit of energy from every man that visited, she would share that pain she and her girl has endured in all those years.
Over time, Arastacia received more and more lost girls that she immediately took under her wings, and before she knew it, her halls were lit and full of laughter from her daughters and screams from the men that lost their way in the mist. For the first time, Lady Arastacia felt that she was home at last.
Widow's Tear
Birth of a Monster
After countless years of adopting new daughters and draining the life essence of lost men, an older man one day knocked on the door. His back was crooked, he had a long ashen beard and wearing a long hooded cloak. He was welcomed inside by Arastacia's daughters, set in a chair, and poured a glass of wine. The old man kindly denied the wine, he was only looking for an interview with the master of the castle.
The old man was brought to Lady Arastacia's private quarters, welcoming the old man.
They were left alone, the daughters were disgusted that their mother would even waste her presence with this old pig.
Arastacia poured the man a glass of wine, be again he refused such a treat. She was taken aback by this and demanded the reason for her audience. The old man revealed himself as the creator of this establishment and wanted to see who housed it. He rarely visited the castle hidden in the mist, and every time he visited he met a new owner.
Arastacia scuffed at the old man, she had heard many tales of the lost, but this one was a clear winner. She called for her daughters and demanded the man to be removed from the premises, as the daughters flew in to overwhelm the man, a black mist exhaled from his cloak. One daughter was touched by the mist and her skin started to crack and crumble like charred bark on a burned piece of wood. As the daughter was screaming in pain and the others screaming in panic, Arastacia stood there in shock, never has she seen anything in her life. The man turned to Arastacia, and spoke the words:
"Let me see how you really look like, my Lady"
He dashed to Arastacia, and before she even could react, a dagger had penetrated her stomach. After a moment of silence, Arastacia let out a painful howl and fell to her knees. Something was happened to her body, as the man and the daughters watched in horror, their mother transformed into a monster with spider-like appendages both as legs and as claw-like arms on her back, her face turned monstrous, resembling a disfigured spider. As the transformation seemed over, she saw her hands and legs and roared in absolute anger while charged at the man. But before she could grab him, he turned into a complete mist and his voice was echoing within it;
"Only a monster can own this castle, I was only here to ensure that"
Another roar came from Arastacia, such insolence, how dare he, a man, to bring this curse to the castle? Who did he think he was? Was the thought going through her mind.
The man in the mist disappeared like a lifting fog, and as it was gone, silence once again. A faint sob came from Arastacia, and soon after her daughters joined in. How could he do this to her? Arastacia was not a monster, she merely brought justice to herself and her daughters. Was she?
Arastacia ripped out the dagger from her womb and stared at it while sobbing, I am not a monster. The tears from her six eyes dripped down on the blade, as the drops hit the blade they seared like drops on a hot pan, and just like that, she slowly started to turn back to herself again. Everyone was in absolute shock, they weren't sure what they had just witnessed, a nightmare?
Arastacia took the dagger, and locked it away in the highest tower, never to be seen again.
