The Hodag

The Hodag from Fearsome Wilderness

All horns and spikes this critter loves to smile.

In 1893, the local newspaper in Wisconson described the discovery of a hodag. A prominant Wisconsin land surveyor, and general hoaxster Eugene Shepard gathered up some friends and townsfolk to hunt and capture the fearsome critter. The took a photo with the beast and said they used dynamite to kill it.

This of course was not a real Hodag.
