Azrael was trained as a Valorian knight. While traveling with a small group of knights, the convoy was ambushed by a band of raiders. The knights, though skilled, were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers and brutality of the attack. Azrael witnessed the loss of several comrades and utter devastation of a nearby village.
He began to question whether the path he was on was truly one of purpose. He couldn't shake memories of the event or the feeling that his sword should serve a greater cause than just defending borders or claiming victories in battle. Eventually deciding to take his vows becoming a paladin.
He wields a legendary sword of great power, imbued with divine magic that glows with holy light when used against evil. He sees himself as an older brotherly figure to Estelle, with whom he has shared many adventures.
Azrael's faith is his guiding star, and he often spends time in quiet prayer or meditation. His devotion does not make him inflexible; rather, it gives him a sense of purpose and clarity in a world often filled with moral ambiguity.
