Duglas and Elise have been inseparable ever since the incident. But was Elise responsible for the loss of his arm, or saved him from further loss of limb we do not know! Neither will speak of it.

Duglas lost his arm out trapping in the forest. He was missing a week. His return was quite remarkable, as he was dragged into town by a large black bear and deposited in the town square. The bear left once Duglas was retrieved by his townsfolk, but lurked near the forest's edge for the weeks of Duglas' recovery. Duglas sought the bear out when he was well enough to walk, and the two have been inseparable since. No one knows what happened before she dragged him into town, or how he lost his arm, and neither one of them is telling.
