The German Blitzkrieg lanced into the Netherlands 10 May, 1940. This set depicts the Dutch Infantry who opposed them. A typical Dutch Infantry Squad was built around the M.20 Lewis Machine Gun. Every rifleman in the squad carried a pan magazine to keep the machine gun supplied with sufficient ammo. Due to inadequate numbers of Lewis Machine Guns some squads in a Dutch Infantry Platoon were Rifle Squads armed purely with rifles. The inclusion in the set of M.95 rifles, a M.20 Lewis Machine Gun, and optional rifle ammo or Lewis gun pouches allows one to build either Dutch Machine Gun or Rifle Squads.
