Imperial Navy
The Imperial Navy, or Navis Imperialis, is one of the armed forces employed by the Imperium. While the Imperial Guard is responsible for the Imperium's ground forces, the Imperial Navy is responsible for the fleets of warships that soar between the stars and planets in the Imperium as well as engaging threats both inside and outside the Imperium's borders. The Imperial Navy is the military arm of the Imperial Fleet and was, until their separation after the Horus Heresy, a branch of the Imperial Army.
The ships of the Imperial Navy are massive structures constructed for deep space warfare in the harsh darkness of the void between worlds, protecting the Imperium of Man from all who would destroy it.
Imperial Fleets emphasize armor and long-range weaponry over speed. Slow and ponderous, the fleet moves as one, hammering its foes as it bears down upon them. Almost all Cruisers and Battleships in the fleet have massively armored prows, which can take huge amounts of punishment. Add to this the technology of the Nova Cannon, and you get a wonderful blend of longevity and firepower. The Imperial fleet is truly the armored might of the Imperium.
