Description

This intricate bronze sculpture depicts Venugopal, a synthesis of Krishna and Vishnu, blending the attributes of both deities—Krishna’s flute alongside Vishnu’s conch (shankha) and discus (chakra). Crafted in the ornate Hoysala style, the figure is adorned with detailed jewelry, flowing tassels, and a prominent cylindrical crown, or kiritamukuta. The base is richly carved on all sides and features two singhs (lions) supporting prongs, allowing for ceremonial transport during processions.

This piece is a faithful recreation of the classic depiction of Krishna as Venugopal, capturing the elegance and devotional symbolism characteristic of South Indian bronze sculpture from the Chola era.
