The Rhodesian Light Infantry (RLI) was an elite airborne commando regiment composed primarily of white volunteers, renowned for its relentless counter-insurgency operations during the Rhodesian Bush War (1964–1979). Specializing in rapid-response tactics, the RLI pioneered the use of “Fireforce” missions, helicopter- and parachute-deployed assaults designed to ambush guerrilla fighters with overwhelming speed. Highly disciplined, lightly equipped, and brutally effective, the RLI earned a fearsome reputation for mobility and aggressive tactics in dense African bush terrain.
