The Variable Payload Raider, or Viper Suit, as it is popularly known, is a modular mech chassis originally conceived by a vast network of amateur hobbyist designers for the purposes of construction, mining, and exploration.
Cutting out the realm-spanning defense contractors that usually specialize in such endeavors, the Colonial Viper Suit marks a new forefront in decentralized production of mechanical walkers.
Intrepid colonists, settlers, and tradesbeings use Vipers in every manner of environment and condition, all throughout the Junctionworld-centric network of planets and planes of existence.
The bipedal vehicles have proved to be rugged, durable, and easily printed and assembled, even from common weld-printers or simpler models of colonial material fabricator boxes (fab-boxes).
Exploring new frontiers means, inevitably, the Viper Suit was pressed into combat. The modular nature of the VPR makes it able to be readily fitted with weaponry from a number of technology levels.
Protective plating intended to stop incoming micrometeorites can also resist small arms fire. Open-source weapon files and ammunition recipes are readily found on the DataNets.
Salvaged, pirated, or stolen weapons from downed Project Raptor mechs can be adapted to the Viper Suit, increasing its lethality.
Some Colonists have discovered that mercenary or pirate work pays better than scratching a living out of hardscrabble, hard-vacuum settlements.
The Viper Suit is proof that any tool, even one that is 18 feet tall, can be reforged into a weapon.
Instructions are included in PDF format. They're for the 28mm version, but the 15mm version follows the same rules for post-processing and assembly.
