Elefant German Tank Destroyer - 1/72 Scale

Model Description:
This download contains a highly detailed model of an Elefant tank destroyer, the late version of the Ferdinand tank destroyer. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness). This model contains only the late, Elefant model of the vehicle with the hull mounted MG, commander's cupola, and several other modifications.

Historical Description:
The Elefant was a German tank destroyer fielded in limited numbers during World War II, based on the Porsche designed Tiger chassis proposal, referred to popularly as the 'Tiger (P)'. The vehicle was equipped with the 88mm L/71 AT gun, capable of firing rounds at high velocity to knock out allied armor. The vehicle also featured a hull-mounted MG34 for protecting the vehicle from infantry, unlike the preceding Ferdinand version. The Elefant featured 200mm of frontal armor, albeit nearly flat. This provided a high degree of protection against most contemporary allied firepower. The side and rear armor of the vehicle was thinner, though still respectable at 80mm thick.
 

The Elefant was a slightly modified, and name-changed, version of the Ferdinand tank destroyer. The changes were primarily the addition of a hull MG and a commander's Cupola. The vehicle's tracks were also widened from 600mm to 640mm.

In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the Elefant is a potent tank hunter, able to pierce allied armor and deal a high amount of damage. The vehicle is very slow however, which will limit its utility on urban or small battlefields where it can easily be flanked and destroyed. The frontal armor is all bet immune at any range, meaning the vehicle can effectively snipe with relative impunity. The vehicle also possesses the "accurate" keyword, allowing it to keep the range advantage necessary to protect itself from being flanked. Naturally, the vehicle costs a high amount of requisition to field due to its large health pool, powerful cannon, and thick armor.
