"Anandriel Veythar, a fierce warrior elf, is sent by her king to the ancient ruins of Tharion’s Hold to find the last surviving mage of the Binding Rites—the spell that long ago fused demons and spirits into trees, creating the cursed Barkfiends of Faewyrn. With the ongoing war escalating and the Barkfiends growing more relentless, the elves hope to reverse the spell and end the suffering it caused. Anandriel finds the aged mage Tharion, who lives half-bound by the magic he once cast, and convinces him to help undo the rite despite the immense danger it brings. Together, they journey toward Faewyrn Forest to face the trapped souls and attempt the unbinding that may bring peace—or unleash even greater peril."
