Description
Pliosaurus brachydeirus was a formidable marine reptile that lived during the Late Jurassic, around 155 million years ago, in the ancient seas covering Europe.
Belonging to the pliosaurids, it had a massive, broad skull, powerful jaws, and large conical teeth adapted for seizing slippery prey.
Unlike long-necked plesiosaurs, Pliosaurus had a short neck and a streamlined body built for speed and strength.
It likely fed on fish, cephalopods, and other marine reptiles.
With four strong flippers, Pliosaurus brachydeirus was an apex predator, dominating Jurassic marine ecosystems.
