8 Thousand years ago they defied the Holy Order of Terra and her Priest King in open worship of other gods found in the dark of space. 8 Thousand years ago they led a bloody crusade to cleanse Holy Terra of her Priest King and create a new Combine that embraced all the gods. 

Their Crusade failed and those who survived fled far into the distant reaches of space. For millennia they licked old wounds and slowly restored their numbers. Building new ships, recruiting new peoples and races under their banners. Only now there was one god less to them; no more would they ever worship Holy Terra. As their fleets are spotted once more on the fringes of space; their warships return at the head of a fresh crusade they have only one quest. To drive a spear deep into the very heart of humanity and destroy Terra.
