Among the ratkin hosts, countless killers lurk in the darkness, but none embody silent death as completely as this daemonic predator. Born from shadow and malice, the Gnawshade drifts between pools of darkness like a living nightmare, appearing only when the moment to strike is perfect. It is patient where others are reckless, calculating where others are cruel. Every movement, every whisper, every deception serves a single purpose, to bring its prey to an abrupt and terrifying end.

Few ever see the Gnawshade clearly. Those who claim to have survived an encounter speak of fleeting shapes at the edge of their vision, of eyes gleaming from impossible places, of shadows moving when no light should allow them to. By the time the truth is realized, it is already too late. A blade emerges from the darkness. Claws find an exposed throat. The victim falls without ever knowing where the attack came from.

Unlike the brutish monstrosities favored by many ratkin warlords, the Gnawshade delights in manipulation and deceit. It spreads fear before it strikes, turning allies against one another with whispered lies and subtle acts of sabotage. Entire warbands have torn themselves apart while the daemon watched unseen, patiently waiting to claim the survivors.

Yet for all its cunning, the Gnawshade is no mere assassin.

It is a daemon, a predator forged from the very concepts of treachery, paranoia, and sudden death. It does not simply hide within shadows.

It becomes them.
