Description

Ceratosuchops inferodios was a large baryonychine spinosaurid that lived during the Early Cretaceous, around 125 million years ago, in what is now the Isle of Wight, England.

Known from fragmentary skull bones discovered at Chilton Chine, it possessed a long, crocodile-like snout and numerous conical teeth suited for gripping slippery prey.

Its name means “horned crocodile-faced hell heron,” referring to distinctive bony bosses above the eyes and its presumed heron-like hunting habits.

Ceratosuchops probably hunted fish and other animals around rivers and floodplains, potentially stalking prey both in shallow water and on land.
