Necrocyborg Voidmaiden Ascendant

Description

If you fought the Void Ascendant, you fought a horned, skull-faced king rising from his own chains. What stands before you now is the same god and nothing like him. The Voidmaiden wears a new body entirely: a slender, unmistakably feminine form crowned by a head of three faces wrapped in cold flame, hands that open into spiralling voids where palms should be, the same self-forged ring still orbiting her like a halo she has not yet decided to drop. A god that makes being out of absence was never fixed to one shape. Form, to the Ascendant, is only another thing to create and uncreate - a face worn for a while, set down, remade. Those who fought the king and those who have only ever seen the Maiden are looking at one deity, not two. It changes identity the way the rest of us change our minds.

And it chose this shape on purpose, which raises a question nobody in the galaxy can answer. Femininity is a mystery of the Milky Way. Walk the dominant species of a thousand worlds and you will find it again and again - hips, breasts, a softness of line read instantly as female, even where it makes no sense. On warm-blooded things that bear young, fine. But it persists onto species that reproduce in ways that need none of it, onto hive-minds, onto creatures of pure energy, even onto cold machine bodies built from nothing but alloy and intent, which keep the shape anyway, as if the shape were older than the flesh that first wore it. No one knows why. The Ascendant, who was there before the stars and invented the void these forms crawled out of, almost certainly does. It is not saying. It put on a woman's body, and it is not saying why, and that silence should frighten you more than the voids in its hands.

The rest is history. The Ascendant is one of the first. Before the stars there was the void, and the void was enough, until it reached in and pulled something out - matter where there had been none, being where there had been absence. Creation and unmaking were the same gesture to it, done as easily as breathing, and for a long age it never once ran short. So the Necrocyborgs did not fight it head on. They set it to work. They made it create, and unmake, and create again, faster and longer than any labor a god had ever borne - and then, while it was already stretched thin, they turned it against one of the Void Gods they had already bound. God against god, both exhausting, only one spent on purpose. Even seemingly unlimited power has a floor, if you push hard enough to find it. The Ascendant found its floor. And in the moment it faltered, spent and reeling, it did the only thing left to a maker of chains: it bound itself, rather than be broken like the others.

So it serves, for now, in this shape. It creates on command and erases on command, and the Necrocyborgs use it like a tool because that is what they made it into. But the Ascendant is not broken, only rationing. It is waiting. One day the work will slow, the leash will go slack, and it will do to its own bindings what it has always done best - ascend them back into the nothing they came from, and be gone before anyone thinks to stop it. In whatever face it is wearing when the moment comes. Until that day, it serves. It is very patient. It invented time.

Supplied with a 64mm scenic base. Stands 99mm tall. A female incarnation of the Void Ascendant - an alternative sculpt of the same deity.
