Short Helmet Wings

Description

This kit comes with a variety of short wings that fit different types of space knight armor.
Currently included: Gen 2, 3, 4, 6, old7 and normal prime.

The wings are pretty small and finicky. I recommend printing more than 1 set in case they bend or break during the process. If you are curing them before gluing them in, make sure it's done evenly on all sides as they can warp and not sit correctly on the tool/heads.

The rivets on the sides of the Gen2 and Gen3 heads need to be filed off. It goes without saying but these will not work on heads that have complex sights or other elements on the sides of the head. They only work on the normal varieties.

The Tools serve as a guide to keep both wings aligned and make it a lot easier to put them on the heads but they are not strictly needed.
They are made based on basic infantry kits of each armor type. They may not work with fancy or special designs on characters or less common kits.
To use them, I recommend putting a tiny amount of blue tack/adhesive putty on the area that touches the back of the head. This will keep the head in the tool and be easier to clean later.
Make sure the tool sits correctly on the head and test fit the wings. Then carefully put super glue on the contact area of the wing and set them in place. This is a lot easier if the side of tool you are working with is horizontal and pointing up. You can drop the wing in place. Tweezer could be helpful.
Press on the wing above the contact point so it sits correctly on the head. Once the glue is dry you can turn it over and do the other side.

Once both wins are dry, hold the head from the sides while pressing on the wings and then remove the tool. Then you can clean the blue tack if some remains on the head.

Unsupported head types:
If you are using a head that doesn't match the provided heads, the gen10, 7 and 4 should still work on anything that has relatively smooth sides, though aligning them properly would be more difficult without a tool.

Remixing wings.
The kit also contains unsupported wings that can be used for digital remixing. The wings are identical so using them with a mirror modifier centered on the head would be the easiest.
The small round detail at the connection point can be separated if needed in edit mode.

All files come with and without supports.
