Based on the T34 hull and inspired by the German Stug.
This enormous howitzer provided much needed fire support to infantry units from January 1943. Reported able to blow the turret off a German Tiger with the right hit, this beast operated in batteries of 4 vehicles.
A better design was planned with a different gun named the SU-122M but this was scrapped giving way to the SU-85, a dedicated tank destroyer, which arrived in service in April 1944.
